German Exchange 2017

German students come to Bridgewater for an exciting experience.

On the 1st of May 2017, eighteen German students came to Bridgewater High School for the annual German Exchange trip. They stayed with eighteen of our students, who they all got along with very well.

On the first day of the trip they visited Bridgewater and on the next day they went to Quarry Bank Mill in Wilmslow, Cheshire, where they learnt about its history and the Industrial Revolution. They enjoyed visiting the science museum in Manchester the day after. On the next day they had an exciting experience at Alton Towers. Although it was a wet day, the students had a brilliant time. They next learned about one of Britain’s most well known bands – The Beatles, when they went to the Beatles museum in Liverpool. After entering the Trafford Centre on the next day, one of the German girls announced, “I have arrived in paradise!”. Strangely the pupils’ favourite experience was our school day, as it is so much different to theirs.

A fun fact about the exchange is that many of the German students were apprehensive of the British food however, to their surprise, they enjoyed it.

On the 11th of July, our students can look forward to visiting their new found friends in Germany, where they will make chocolate and visit Europa Park and much, much more.
