Careers Information, Advice and Guidance (CIAG)

Careers Education and Information, Advice and Guidance (CIAG) helps to preparing pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life, in order to help them make a successful transition to adulthood. We aim to:

  • Support pupils to be able to plan and manage their own futures
  • Provide comprehensive information on options available to them
  • Raise their aspirations
  • Promote equality, diversity, social mobility and challenge stereotypes
  • Enable pupils to sustain employment and achieve personal and economic well- being throughout their lives

At Bridgewater High School these aims are addressed in a number of different ways, For example:

  • In PSHE lessons
  • At tutor review days
  • At options and parents evenings
  • During assembly times
  • Through talks and discussions from other educational establishments and employers
  • On cross curricular days

We currently access the Careers Service provided by Warrington LA. At each of our parents evenings years 9-13 and at all other important events and guidance evenings, a Careers Adviser will be on hand to speak to parents and pupils. All pupils in years 10 -13 have access to a 1:1 interview if they feel it would be useful. This can be booked via Pastoral Achievement Managers. The Careers Adviser also runs a ‘drop in’ service in Upper School LRC on a Wednesday lunchtime and can help with the writing of application letters, CVs, run mock interviews, assist with careers searches etc.

Alternatively, pupils may wish to search many of the very useful websites that are available that provide advice on careers, universities and other choices for pupils after their time at school. Detailed below are links to a number of these sites:
