Rewards

At Bridgewater, we use positive reinforcement to inspire and motivate students so that they commit to fully embracing all aspects of school life.

Our rewards system is aligned with our values and behaviour systems. These are regularly monitored by tutors and year teams so that students’ positive behaviours are frequently recognised and acknowledged.

Rewards are one of the fundamental ways we demonstrate that WE CARE. We set out to encourage a sense of belonging, community and ownership.

Behaviour

At Bridgewater we use Lesson Scores every lesson to monitor pupils’ engagement with each lesson.

The use of lesson scores ensures consistency of expectations for pupils and staff.

Pupils start each lesson with a lesson score of 2.

They can be moved to lesson score 1 for outstanding effort/attainment.

Please see the ‘Behaviour’ section on the Parents’ Page for more information on lesson scores.

We use our Lesson Scores data to reward pupils using our termly postcards (linked to our school values), e-mails home and reporting on a pupils average lesson score as part of our interim reporting.

Reward points are reviewed regularly and year teams celebrate excellent behaviour in year group assemblies.

As part of our Rewards programme, we also run ‘Rewards Trips’ with criteria linked to attendance, punctuality and lesson scores.

Students are awarded prizes for attainment or progress/attitude in subjects. Prize winners and their parents/carers are invited to the prize giving ceremony held towards the end of the summer term.
