On 17th June, our Y7 and Y8 reading groups attended the Final of the Cheshire Book Quiz 2026 at Weaverham High School.
Alice Nuttall, author of ‘The Zombie Project’, one of the books the groups had read, was in attendance and happily signed books. She talked about how she got her from inspiration from current issues such as climate change, as well as other fiction/TV series about Zombies.
After reading five books in six months and competing against 20 other schools across the Cheshire area, our two Bridgewater teams were up against Kings, Chester and Holmes Chapel, taking part in 18 nail-biting buzzer rounds of general knowledge about books, with topics as diverse as Dragons, Murder! Literary Detectives and The Hunger Games Universe.
Our Bridgewater teams fought valiantly with the Year 7 team coming in at second place behind Kings Chester and our Year 8 team coming in third. Although we didn’t win the Cup this year, the Finalists all received a book token for their excellent effort!
Many thanks to all the pupils who took part and behaved impeccably during the event! They were a real credit to the school.
Entries for the 2026-27 Cheshire Book Quiz will open in September.
