To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the Cheshire Schools’ Book Award, a group of Y7 and Y8 pupils from our school reading groups attended a special day-long celebration event at the Storyhouse, Chester, along with 400 pupils from other schools across Cheshire. The Cheshire Schools’ Book Award is an annual book award celebrating teenage fiction and the joy and community of school reading groups. The award is entirely pupil-led, with pupils nominating and voting for their favourite books.
Over 20 secondary schools across Cheshire, Warrington and Halton took part in the process of voting for the most popular book, with Polly Crosby winning the Younger category for her book, The Vulpine, and Josh Silver, winning the Older category for Traumaland. Pupils were able to take part in author workshops with authors including Sophie Jo, Jenny Pearson, Ravena Guron and others, culminating in an exciting and tense Awards Ceremony and reveal of the winners!
