CHESHIRE BOOK QUIZ

On 18th June, our Y7 and Y8 reading groups took part in the Final of the Cheshire Book Quiz, which was hosted at Bridgewater High School this year.

After reading five books in six months (no mean feat in itself!) and competing against other schools in the Cheshire area, our two high-scoring teams were up against Weaverham High and Christleton High. The teams took part in 18 nail-biting buzzer rounds of general knowledge about books, with literary topics as diverse as:

Dystopia Calling
Who Said It
Shakespeare or Taylor Swift?
Appearing on Netflix
Literary Legends.

Our Bridgewater teams fought valiantly with Y8 boys coming in at joint second place andY7 girls coming in third, with Weaverham High in top position. Although we didn’t win the Cup this year, the Finalists all received a book token for their excellent effort!

Lis Jardine, author of ‘The Detention Detectives’ mystery series, one of the books the groups had read, was also in attendance and happily signed books. She also did a short presentation about the inspiration behind her writing and her love of crime books.

The Cheshire Book Quiz will start again in September 2025 for any pupils who love reading and participating in team book quizzes!
