Cheshire Book Quiz 2024

On 19th June, our Y7 reading group took part in the Final of the Cheshire Book Quiz 2024 at Christleton High School, in Chester.  They were accompanied by members of our other Y7/Y8 reading groups, who had also taken part in the reading quiz this year.

The Bridgewater team were up against Middlewich High School, Sandbach High School and Weaverham High School. The team took part in 18 nail-biting buzzer rounds of general knowledge about books, with topics as diverse as Shakespeare vs Batman: That is the Question, Gods and Goddesses, Fictional Felines, Fact or Fiction, World War 2 Animal Heroes and Emoji Titles.

Dan Smith, author of ‘Nisha’s War’, one of the books the groups had read, was in attendance and happily signed books. He also talked about the inspiration behind his different stories.

Our Bridgewater team fought valiantly, coming in at third place, with Weaverham High in top position. Although we didn’t win the cup this year, the finalists all received a book token for their excellent effort!
