Hour of Code

Just before Christmas, the students at Bridgewater High School got to take part in the Hour of Code in their ICT lessons. The Hour of Code is a global movement where students learn to code in hourly sessions that are fun and engaging. Hour of Code was an initiative started by Code.org to get everyone from all generations into coding, especially school children. It is taken part in worldwide in schools in lots of different countries.

Our students chose from many different coding activities such as games like Code Combat and other activities such as Scratch. The students who took part in Hour of Code enjoyed the coding experience and said they learnt a lot from it and now would like to further carry on coding with computer science as a GCSE.

Many celebrities support hour of code such as:

  • Snoop Dogg
  • Mark Zuckerburg
  • Stephen Hawking
  • Bill Gates
  • Will.i.am
  • Boris Johnson
  • Bill Clinton
  • Eric Smchidt
