RUGBY CHAMPIONS!
A huge congratulations to our Y10 Bridgewater Rugby team!
They won every game they played and were crowned Champions of the Cheshire Rugby 7s tournament today at Lymm Rugby Club! It was a dominant and outstanding showing from the team, beating Kings Macclesfield in the semi-final and Stockport Grammar school in the final!
Coach Mr Burgess had this to say about the boys’ journey:
“From the start the team looked professional and promising. With the team being mainly made up of Rugby League players they adapted themselves well to compete in the Rugby Union 7s tournament. The first game we played was against Wirral High School: A few nerves saw us concede the first try but once we found our rhythm the lads went on to score the next 6 tries. The second match was a dominant display beating Calday Grammar school without conceding a try. Onto the semi-final, the lads faced Kings Macclesfield School who were the favourites in the competition. The boys showed great ability, spirit and skill to overcome their opposition and secure a spot in the final. The final saw us face Stockport Grammar school: The game was end to end with us being down by a try going into the second half of the game. The highlight of the match was Leo running the full length of the field and winning the game for us. This was a great achievement from a skilled and dominant rugby side who displayed great sportsmanship throughout the whole tournament.”
Congratulations to the boys and many thanks to all involved!
