U14 Girls’ Football – Cheshire Champions!

On Tuesday 1st May, the year 8/9 girls football team played in the Cheshire Schools’ FA Under 14 Girls Cup Final against Congleton High School.
The girls had won three matches before the semi-final against Whitby High, Ellesmere Port Catholic High and Bishop Heber. The team were drawn against local rivals Lymm High School in the semi-final. After a close match, they won 2-1. Throughout these games the girls scored 28 goals – an impressive tally from any team.

At the final, the girls were well supported by parents and friends, as well as Mr Long, Mr Roberts and Mr Jones. After a good goal from Bridgewater in the first half, Congleton equalised before half time, leaving the scores level at the break. An exciting second half saw Bridgewater score three more goals without reply and the Cheshire Cup was ours!

Congratulations to the girls and Miss Price, and good luck for next year!
